Provost Jennifer Rexford and four other Princeton faculty and staff members were named in New Jersey Business Magazine’s INNOVATE100 list to “highlight and elevate the state’s finest innovation leaders and to showcase collaboration within companies and among organizations.”
The magazine released its annual list on March 21, featuring innovators from several categories including academia, banking and finance, health care, life sciences and technology. Those listed will be celebrated at an event in New Brunswick on May 13.
Provost Rexford is also the Gordon Y.S. Wu Professor in Engineering. Cited with her in the academia category were Arvind Narayanan, a professor of computer science and director of the Center for Information Technology Policy, and Manish Bhardwaj, who at the Keller Center for Innovation in Engineering Education directs the Design for Innovation program for faculty in the humanities and social sciences.
Christine Galib, director of Advancing Photonics Technologies, was included in the “community leaders” category. James Van Wyck, assistant dean for graduate student professional development in the Office of the Dean of the Graduate School, was included in the “innovators to watch” section.
The magazine said the annual INNOVATE100 initiative is spearheaded by James Barrood and Innovation+, a curated global community of more than 10,000 entrepreneurs and innovators.
“It is only through sustained and visionary leadership that innovation can thrive in both good times and bad,” said Barrood, who leads Innovation+. “That is why we didn’t simply honor CEOs, presidents and department/division heads, but also their colleagues who drive innovation throughout companies and organizations. We’ve also elevated the community leaders in our great state. They are the catalysts who make things happen. In addition, we’ve highlighted ‘Innovators to Watch,’ who represent the next generation of extraordinary leaders.”
