Come to Princeton Research Day for an eclectic display of campus research
Spend the afternoon with Princeton’s early-career researchers, creators and artists at the May 9 Princeton Research Day event to learn about the discoveries and innovative projects emerging from labs and studios across campus.
This annual celebration at Frist Campus Center invites people from across the campus and the broader community to engage with undergraduates, graduate students and postdoctoral researchers as they share their work in a way that connects with a general-interest audience. During the program, attendees can vote for their favorite presentation, and the top videos will be awarded cash prizes.
Here is the schedule for the day. Stop by at any time:
- 12 pm – 1:30 pm: Showcase, Frist Center, 100 level
The day will kick off with the Showcase where presenters will share their cutting-edge research and artistry through exhibits, posters and performances designed to make often-sophisticated work engaging and accessible for non-specialists.
- 1:30 – 2:30 pm: Reception, Frist Gallery, Basement Level
Next, head over to the Reception for snacks and beverages and to network with fellow attendees and presenters.
- 2:30 – 4:30 pm: Awards Celebration, Frist Multipurpose Room, Basement Level (and live streamed).
The day will conclude with an Awards Celebration where the crowd can watch the award-winning videos and selected presenters will take part in live Q&As with Princeton leaders.
The event provides opportunities for presenters to explain their work in creative ways. Last year, Moamen Elmassry, postdoctoral researcher in molecular biology, shared his research via a poem about the gut microbiome. “There are all kinds of ways to share science – it doesn’t have to just be data and formal presentations,” he said. “I was able to share a bit about my work with middle school and high school students at the event, and they all asked great questions.”
