SUBJECT: A message from VP Calhoun regarding a tragic loss to the community
DATE: November 30 @ 9:30 a.m.

Dear students and colleagues,

It is with great sadness that I write to share the tragic news that Sophia Jones ’27 unexpectedly passed away late last night. Our entire community is impacted by this tragedy and our hearts are heavy. We share our deepest condolences with Sophia’s family and friends.

We ask that you keep Sophia and her family in your thoughts today and reach out to one another for support and consolation or to University resources if you need them.

Resources and support are available through Counseling and Psychological Services, the Office of Religious Life, the residential colleges, and the Graduate School. Students wishing to speak with a counselor can call 609-258-3141. Staff may contact Carebridge to speak with a licensed professional by calling 800-437-0911.

We will offer an opportunity for students who wish to gather, reflect, and support one another at 7 p.m. tonight in the residence of Yeh College Head Yair Mintzker, located on the first floor of Mannion Hall. Deans from the Office of Religious Life, counselors from Counseling and Psychological Services and residential college staff will be available.

When more information becomes available about a memorial service, we will share it.

We know that every member of our community joins us in sending our condolences to Sophia’s family and in wishing them strength during this most difficult time.

Sincerely,

W. Rochelle Calhoun

Vice President for Campus Life
